- where where I spent a lot of tiem obsessing over sports (hense my current job). In my younger years I'm known to have said that I'd want to live in the taj taj mahal on top of mount everest. I went to to college at the University of Georgia (UGA) and home of the Geogia Bulldogs (watch (watch out for us this season!). Along the way I decided athletics was where I wanted wanted to be, sports, passion, determination, hard work etc don't really do justice justice the culture permeates at Nike...anyhow that's where I ended up during my last last summer in college as an intern. I joined back with the swoosh soon after graduating, graduating, worked at our headquarters in Portland, Oregon and now I'm in Miami doing doing brand marketing for theSouth (including Texas).

I have recently read "The Climb" and "Into Thin Air" whichhighlight the extreme challenges and risks that exist in climbing Mt. Everest (as well as watching the "Everest" Discovery Channel series) and am excited about visiting the Base Camp of this prodigious mountain.

Our trek will take us from one climate to another. At our starting point, the weather in Lukla will be much different than the weather at Everest Base Camp.
Of course, going to theBase Camp of Mt. Everest is no train ride. Hiking at high altitude dictates having a strong cardio background leading up to the trek. Our group has been exercising appropriately to prepare forthe trekin order to maximize our comfort during the trip.To seea sampleof things we have been doingfor exercise beyone our personal routines, see how wetrain like a Rocket Scientist.

Welcome to theWiki for our NASA Mt. Everest Trek! We are very excited to bring you our experiences as we travel from the United States to hike to the base camp of Mt. Everest. Ourgroup consists of 17 friends and family associated with Sabrina Singh (EVA flight controller for NASA/JSC) who is coordinating this trip. Our visit to Mt. EVEREST TREK ITINERARY
The following is the estimate of our travels to the Base Camp of Mt. Everest.
April 25 - Our trip begins the fouth week of April where we start our journey to Nepal. We first fly from the United States to New Delhi, India, where we arrive the next day and will spend the night.
April 27 -We travel again by plane to Kathmandu, Nepal. We will spend the rest of the day as well as the next in Kathmandu. One exciting event that will be taking place during this timeis the wedding ceremony of two our travelers - Sabrina Singh and Adam Gilmore! They will be getting hitched in a Sikh Wedding ceremony in Kathmandu! We are looking forward to celebrating this great occasion with them.

May 2 - Another few thousand feet will bring us to Tengpoche (13,779') on this day. The path will take us to breathtaking views of Kantega (22,300'), Ama Dablam (22,500'), and Lhotse (27,890'), and Mt. Everest (29,000'). After a rhododendron forest and a descent to the shores of the Dukh Koshi River a steep climb will bring us to Tengpoche and the site of the most important monastery in the Khumbu region.
May 3 - From Tengpoche we cross the Imja Khola and climb to Pangboche. Here exists another interesting monastery in the midst of the Himalayas. We will continue to Dingboche (14,245') where we stay for thenight as well as the next day for rest.
We will cross Lobuche (16,082') and go over the terminal moraine of Khumbu Glacier Glacier and our first glimpse of that stark and rugged moonscaped surface. This night we
